New Releases at CNJComics for 1-11-2017

Just a quick email for some of the cool stuff that came out on Wednesday, January 11th, 2017! DC FEATURED TITLES After a great opening storyline by John Romita Jr, All Star Batman returns with an issue drawn by JOCK and written by Scott Snyder. This one’s featured villain is Mr. Freeze. The Justice League meets the Mighty Morphin Power Ranger in a six issue mini series. The first person they encounter is Batman, so you can guess how that turns out. Here’s a really great variant cover to the book as well. Speaking of Batman, volume one of his Rebirth Graphic Novel is out. This is a highly recommended book written by breakaway writer Tom King. (Check out his Omega Men and Sheriff of Baghdad graphic novels as well.) Aquaman’s first Rebirth graphic novel is this week too. It’s a little ways out but get ready for a Batman/Flash crossover in April, as these two Detectives finally start to take a look into the ‘Button’ from DC:Rebirth #1. (You know, the Watchmen thing.) We’ll also be giving away free...

A look at 2017 with CNJComics

A look at 2017 with CNJComics

We’re going to start our first email of 2017 with a road map to the pop culture events that will highlight the year. There’s some pretty good pacing to it all, and I hope we can get you as excited as we are. (Is the superhero genre oversaturated yet? Not by a longshot. I’m with Spielberg that it’s like the Western. We’ve got a long way to go, and some of the best stuff will be near the end.) We’re going to start the year with one that looks hard to top on 2-10-2017, The Lego Batman Movie. Here’s is a compilation of the the trailers that have been out so far. (Keep watching, they just get better and better as it goes along.) There’s something very Cleveland about using the song “We Built This City”. Now I’m free, now I’m movin’, come on Batman let’s get grovin’! Batman has an excellent monthly title right now written by Tom King, as well as a never ending supply of excellent graphic novel material. Must read Batman graphic novels include: Year One,...

New Comics Releases for 12-28-2016

New Comics Releases for 12-28-2016

It’s the final week of 2016, and it’s pretty huge. We’ve got some storylines ending, some new one’s beginning, and a few stand alone stories to cap off your year right. Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, December 28th, 2016. Harley’s Little Black Book #5 features a stand alone story drawn by Neal Adams, and is an homage to the great Superman/Muhammad Ali story from the 1970’s. The same aliens that brought about the fight between Superman and Ali return to match up Kal and Harley. Encase you didn’t know, Adams was the guy who drew the original story, so this really is a big deal. RIP Muhammad Ali, FU 2016. Civil War finally ends with issue #8 this week, which means historically we can say it was a complete product of 2016. Not sure how many surprises are left. (thanks Marvel shipping schedule) We’re excited for the groundwork it’s laying though, with rift between generation, a heroic Dr. Doom, and Captain America’s Hydra still lurking in the shadows. Another story reaches it’s conclusion in All Star...

We’ve had a great year at the shop, and it’s time to show out appreciation to our customers and community with our yearly Holiday Party, Sale and Charity Art Show! Every year we host a party that has gotten bigger and bigger, even more so now that we put together an art show for the Cleveland Food Bank. Showcasing local artists creating custom covers to comic books, this show is done in conjunction with Pop the Comic Culture Club and Cleveland’s local Drink and Draw. The party runs from 8pm to 11pm on Saturday December 17th, but the art show and sale will be running all day. THE ART SHOW: All day on the 17th we’ll display custom comic book covers created by local Cleveland artists. This year’s theme is ‘2016, Worst Year Ever?’ 2016 may go on record as the worst year ever. Between the celebrity deaths, environmental disasters and political drama, we’re ready to raise a glass high in the air, have a toast and be done with it. Not sure what we’re talking about? If you don’t...
