Sure we’ve got a full week of new comic releases, but let’s not pretend this week is about anything other than Star Wars’ return to Marvel Comics! Here’s the featured new comic releases for the week of Wednesday, January 14th. Star Wars returns to Marvel Comics in an extra sized #1 issue for only $4.99! Regular Cover Since Disney now owns both Marvel Comics and Lucas Film, it’s only natural that the rights to produce the comics have fallen back to Marvel in 2015. Marvel’s pulled out their top talent in the form of Jason Aaron and John Cassaday to bring us a new story set in the aftermath of Star Wars A New Hope.

New Comic Releases for the Week of 1-7-2014

Alright! Let’s get started with the first email of the year. Being a self confessed Marvel Zombie*, I’m excited to announce Marvel’s coming out of the gate stong with some quirky new #1’s. First up, 2015 is the year you won’t be able to get enough Ant-Man. The new Ant-Man #1 ongoing series is a pretty big deal, with the movie due out July 16th this year. (The trailer will be shown during the Agent Carter premiere this Tuesday) The book features Scott Lang and is written by Nick Spencer.

Food Drive Results, New Years Sale, and New Releases for the week of 12-31-2014

It is with intense gratitude that we announce the results of the 2014 holiday food drive From all efforts involved, we have collected $2,785 which will be used to create over 11,000 (!) meals through the Cleveland Food Bank. We have also collected 1,073 food items as well. It’s amazing when you can take the works of many individuals, turn it into a number to be measured, which can then be turned back into actual people helped. This is not the success of the shop. This is the success of the comic book community in North East Ohio. Did you draw a cover for the art show? You created 11,000 meals. Did you stop in the shop to buy $1 comic books? You created 11,000 meals. Did you re post the information about the food drive on social media? You created 11,000 meals. Again, this effort is nothing with out the amazing skills and resources of the Cleveland Food Bank to make that $1 to 4 full meals equation actually exist. We are humbled by their day to day endeavors....

New Releases for the week of 12-24-2014

New Comic Day is Christmas Eve this year, and we have a full shipment of new product coming out! We will also be open regular hours from noon until 8 pm, in case you need to make any last minute holiday gift purchases. (Or to just pick up your weekly stash to help you get through the holidays.) Here’s the featured new releases for the week of Wednesday, December 24th. Marvel’s Avengers X-Men AXIS concludes this week with issue #9. AXIS really hit it’s stride in it’s final act, with lots of revelations that were meant to synch up the Marvel Comic Universe with the Cinematic one. It all wraps up here.

It’s time again for that most amazing of holiday traditions, the Carol and John’s Comic Book Shop Customer Appreciation Christmas Party! (or C.J.C.B.S.C.A.C.P. !) On Saturday December 20th from 8pm to 11pm we’ll be pulling out all the stops to express our gratitude for another successful year in business. Our old school Christmas Party features freebies, exclusives, free drinks and food, sales and a little art show to benefit the Cleveland Food Bank.
