Father’s Day at CNJComics

Father’s Day at CNJComics

On Sunday June 17th we’ll be celebrating Father’s Day with some free giveaways for dad’s and their little buddies!  More than anything, dad’s just want to spend time with their kids on Father’s Day. After that, they want comic books.  In all seriousness, I’m so grateful to be sharing any part of my hobby with my daughters that when Marvel came up with a promotion for Father’s Day, I knew we had to join in.  We’ll have two coloring posters we’ll be giving away all day long. Marvel is pushing their “Marvel Super Hero Adventures” books for Father – Son’s and their “Marvel Rising” project for Father – Daughter’s. We could care less about the gender designation, the heart wants what the heart wants so just ask for one and we’ll give it to you. (If you want to stop in early to pick one up to have it fully colored for dad on Sunday just stop by and ask.) They are also giving away double sided bookmarks which cover both properties.  While we appreciate Marvel’s efforts, we wanted to add a little extra,...

Featured New Releases for 6-6-2018

We’ve got five new number one’s hitting the table this week, and they’ve all turned out to be fun reads! Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, June 6th, 2018! ( D-day! ) BOOK OF THE WEEK The book of the week if the new Justice League by Scott Snyder and Jim Cheung, who recently came over from Marvel Comics. Snyder only had a co-writing credit on Justice League No Justice, but you can definitely feel his presence as the only writer here. Cheung came ready to impress, as the work he put into this issue is phenomenal. A great starting point and it looks like it’s going to feature the return of the Legion of Doom. (which has been a hit since the 70’s. You can’t go wrong with a Super Villain team.) MARVEL # 1’s Next comes Deadpool #1 from Marvel Comics! Skottie Young has taken over as writer and Wade has gone back to Merc’ing for a living. There’s a parental advisory rating on this one, and with Young’s work on “I Hate Fairyland” over at...

Featured New Releases for 5-30-2018

It’s a great week at the shop, with even more cool stuff looming on the horizon! Here’s the featured new releases for May 30th, 2018! HERE COMES SPIDER-MAN The big one this week is Amazing Spider-Man #800, with Peter’s final showdown with the Red Goblin and the (near) end of Dan Slott’s run on this title. This giant $9.99 issue has a slew of variants, though we’re really excited about the story inside. Starting at #794, this story has slowly built up into a much anticipated showdown. The Red Goblin has stated that if Peter ever shows his face as Spider-Man again he will kill everyone he loves, and everyone they know, etc. (I guess as far as he can figure it out.) It’s all made for good comic books though. 🙂 We have sold out of all our variant sets. We have sold sold out of all of the 1:100 and 1:200 variants. (Through preorder.) Get to the shop early Wednesday for a chance to pick from the variants that are left, or be content with the standard yet really awesome Alex...

Featured New Releases for 5-23-2018 at CNJComics

It’s a great week for Marvel, as some of their best projects are all released at once! Black Panther gets a new number one as T’Challa looks to the stars for the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda! Still written by Ta’Nehisi Coates, but this time he’s joined by Daniel Acuna, who’s art seems to fit the story perfectly. Get to the shop early Wednesday for this great cover priced variant cover: It’s time for Brian Michael Bendis’ last Marvel Comic book, for now at least. Iron Man #600 brings Tony Stark back and hopefully closes up some of Brian’s storylines. I’ll alway considered Avengers Disassembled to Siege to be one of the best time periods in Marvel history, largely due to his contributions.  Donny Cates’ run on Thanos has been so strong (and well timed) that we’ll be getting 3rd, 4th and even 5th printings of all the issues this week. Great stuff, get them all at once! Cates is now writing Venom, and will be writing a Cosmic Ghost Rider series, as well as a ‘Death of the Inhumans’ mini series. (Maybe...

Featured New Releases for 5-9-2018

We’re cleaning up the shop after an incredibly successful Free Comic Book Day. We’ll have our annual thank you email along with links to a bunch of image galleries, but for now let’s sneak in some featured new releases. Here’s the featured new releases coming out this Wednesday, May 9th, 2018! First up is easy, the new Venom series by Donny Cates! Hot of his run on Thanos and Doctor Strange, Cates has slid over to Venom to give the title some panache before the movie comes out in October this year. Here’s the trailer: Scott Snyder will be writing the new Justice League ongoing next month, but this week starts a weekly four issue mini series also written by him.  Justice League No Justice will help define the new format of the team! We gave out a thousand copies of Brian K Vaughan’s Barrier for FCBD, and issue #2 of this weekly series comes out this week. This was another innovative move by Brian, to combine the release of his series with a FCBD book. The 2nd issue has a...

Free Comic Book Day Last Minute Updates

Free Comic Book Day Last Minute Updates

Hey everyone, just some last minute updates on this year’s Free Comic Book Day.  If for some reason you did not read the previous email with all the info you can find it all here!   STERANKO, BEER… AND MORE BEER First up, we’ve talked to Steranko and he’s all jazzed up about the weekend.    One thing to know before waiting in line to see him is that he only accepts cash, no credit cards, so prepare accordingly!   I would also like to reiterate that one of the best buys you can make on FCBD is the Captain America Marvel Masterwork by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Jim Steranko.      It has all of Steranko’s Captain America work in it, and the afterward is also written by Jim. It’s six texts pages including a page by page breakdown of issue #110, which was my favorite issue by him. Even if you don’t wait in line for Jim this is a great book to learn a little more about him and his craft.   Regularly priced at $24,99,...
