Hey there, Comic Shop Friends! I hope you’re all working on your covers for our Holiday Art Show! I just came up with an idea, so you’ll be seeing one from me this year. There’s a bunch of fun stuff this month: A reminder that if you’re doing a cover for the Art Show, you do need to turn it in by 5pm on Sunday the 10th. This gives us time to frame and label them before they are displayed starting Wednesday the 13th. You can still pick up a blank cover, and this year’s theme is Marvel Vs DC, feel free to interpret that however you’d like! For example, we have a chess match cover turned in, and have heard ideas about a bake sale, and a game of rock, paper, scissors. Here’s a submission from Kyle Goers. Starting on the 13th through our Holiday Party on the 16th, you can purchase raffle tickets for $1 each, and every dollar that is donated goes to the Cleveland Food Bank!...

Since 2013 we’ve hosted a Holiday Art Show to benefit the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, where local artists create custom comic book covers that are won in a basket raffle system where one dollar gets you one ticket towards the cover of your choice. We’re excited to announce that this year’s theme is “Marvel Vs DC”! Here’s how you participate! Stop by the shop and pick up a blank comic cover from us. They are free of charge and you can do two if you like. Please complete the cover with any medium you choose. (This includes digital! Many people now print their art out on cardstock and glue it to the book’s cover.) Give us your interpretation of “Marvel Vs DC” and you can take that in any direction that you want. The artwork must be turned in by Sunday, December 10th at 5pm. Please keep artwork to the front of the cover only, we only have the ability to display them this way. Hello Comic Shop Friends! We’re gearing up for the holidays here, and prepping for our annual Holiday Art Show! This year’s theme is Marvel Vs DC, and you can interpret that any way you want for your cover. We still have blank covers to give out, and you have a few weeks to get them back to us. Art is due back by 5pm on Sunday, December 10th, and we will display the covers starting Wednesday the 13th through our Holiday Party on Saturday the 16th. We’re starting to get some submissions in, and they are great! I feel like you guys are stepping it up this year! Once again, all proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Cleveland Food Bank, so the more covers we have, the more we can donate! Last year we were able to donate enough for them to create 24,900 meals! The Cleveland Food Bank has the ability to turn $1 into four meals, so every raffle ticket helps them greatly! Happy Thanksgiving Comic Shop Friends! Let’s start the email off with this banger: We will be closed this Thursday, the 23rd, but rest up because the next day starts our Black Friday Weekend Sale! Yes, all weekend we’ll be running the sale! Starting Friday, the 24th at noon and going through Sunday the 26th you can get all these great discounts: And, the foyer will be filled with boxes and boxes of dollar stock! Hey Comic Shop Friends! Come in and check out our new carpet! Winston is getting re-settled after all the moving and excitement of the last couple days. Thanks for your patience while we were working on all this, and now it’s back to normal! Now on to shop news! First, our annual Holiday Art Show is coming up in December, and we have blank covers out now so you can sign up and pick up a couple. This year’s theme is Marvel Vs DC! Hello Comic Shop Friends! We’ll get into some shop news first, then on to this week’s new books! First, a note from John: “Well, thanks to the Herculean efforts of the staff, the back room was completely emptied, and we got new carpet installed without any interruption to our hours. However, next Monday and Tuesday (November 13th and 14th), we will be closed to do the same with the storefront. We’ve been in this location for over twelve years and it was time to freshen things up a bit. Please do your part to help us out by making plans to come in and pick up your file this weekend! It helps us twofold by lightening the load of things we have to move (already an overwhelming task) and adding some sales to help cover the two days we have to close.
