Artists Wanted For Holiday Art Show at CNJComics

Artists Wanted For Holiday Art Show at CNJComics

Carol and John’s Comic Shop is looking for local artists who would like to contribute a sketch cover to our 5th Annual Holiday Art Show to benefit the Cleveland Food Bank.  ARTISTS WANTED It’s easy! Are you a local artist who would like to turn your talents into food for those in need during the holiday season? Stop by the shop and pick up a free blank sketch cover. (or two.) Some are completely blank and some have just a logo to get you started.  This year’s theme is “The Holiday Season” which can mean Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Wookie Life Day, whatever. Take that idea and incorporate a comic book element into it, either super hero’s or indie comic characters, again whatever. We’re pretty liberal with the theme.  Create a custom cover, sticking to the front of the book for display purposes.  Turn the book into the comic shop by Thursday, December 14th at 8pm.   Be sure to include you name, URL, and email contact on the submission form you will be given with the cover. You can also write this information...

Black Friday and Small Business Saturday

Black Friday and Small Business Saturday

We will be closed on Thanksgiving Day so our staff can enjoy the holidays with their families. We will reopen on Friday for a weekend long sale, and our longest running shop event, our Anti Black Friday Sale!   On Friday November 24th from 7pm to midnight we’ll be having our annual (anti) Black Friday Sale. There will also be and ongoing sale throughout the weekend, but nothing as massive as 7pm to midnight.  For this sale we open up our back room and the foyer with over 70,000 comic books at $1.00 each. (Buy 100 or more and the price drops to .50 cents each) This year we will have the books in some semblance of an order to make your shopping easier, with books divided into Marvel, DC, Small Press and DC New 52. There’s even stuff form new collections we’ve purchased that we haven’t even cherry picked yet.  Also that night: 20% off all Graphic Novels and Hardcovers 50% off all Back Issues 20% off the New Comic Wall 20% off Statues and Action Figures and Pop Fun’s Discount Graphic Novel Bins will...

Doomsdays Clock Early Release Event on 11-21-17

Doomsdays Clock Early Release Event on 11-21-17

t’s been awhile since we’ve done an early release event, but if one book ever justified it, it’s Doomsday Clock #1, featuring the first real merger of the DC and Watchman Universes! DOOMSDAY CLOCK EARLY RELEASE DC is allowing us to sell Doomsday Clock #1 (As well as all new DC releases) at 11:57pm on Tuesday (11-21-2017) night, to coincide with the time on the Doomsday Clock. We’ll be selling four different covers including one exclusive to the early release.  The Lenticular cover is my favorite, featuring DC’s Trinity blended into Rorschach’s mask. The standard edition hints at the fact that the Rorschach journal really did get out.  We also have a great Gary Frank variant, featuring key players Superman and Doctor Manhattan.   The 11:57 variant will only be available at the early release event and featured a black and white version of the Gary Frank variant cover.  The first 25 people in line will also receive a FREE early release lithograph that looks like the 11:57 variant. We will also have these cool Doomsday Clock pins, that we can give free with every copy you buy of the book.  Considering how iconic...

Justice League Day & Local Comic Shop Day 11-18-2017

Justice League Day & Local Comic Shop Day 11-18-2017

We’ve got two events happening on the exact same day this Saturday, November 18th. Justice League Day and Local Comic Shop Day! JUSTICE LEAGUE DAY With the release of Justice League this Friday, DC has dedicated an entire day to all things Justice League in comics. We’ll have a Special Edition of Geoff Johns and Jim Lee’s original Justice League #1 to give away free with any purchase. DC has also picked select graphic novels that they feel best represent the players involved in the movie. We’ve stocked up on the below graphic novels to make sure they’re around on the day. We’ve also completely restocked our Justice League back issues, which are always 25% off. This led to the creation of four boxes of Justice League comics that are in order and will be only 50 cents each. Here’s some clips from the new movie, many of which I hadn’t seen before. The question isn’t, “will the movie be good” it’s more of a “will Aquaman be cool” thing. Josh Whedon officially has a co writer credit on the...

Captain America and Featured New Releases for 11-1-2017

Captain America and Featured New Releases for 11-1-2017

Another Halloween ComicFest is in the bag, and we had a very successful turnout yet again. Thanks to all who dressed up and came out. Here’s a link to the gallery that we put together and it’s pretty awesome. Thanks again to Heather Linn for the great photo set! ComicFest 2017 From us to you, sincerely, thanks. Now to get back into the swing of things! THE LOWDOWN First up is the Marvel Legacy book that everyone has been waiting for, Mark Waid and Chris Samnee’s Captain America! Waid and Samnee had a very successful run together on Daredevil, and now they’re reuniting to bring Integrity back to the mantle of Captain America. I’ve read this book in it’s entirety and I’ve giving it an A plus as a big Captain America fan. You need no previous knowledge of what’s going on in Steve Rogers life, he’s just on his own after the events of Secret Empire and roaming the country side on his motorcycle. Nuff’ said there. Other new Marvel Legacy starter titles this week include Guardians of the...
