Secret Wars really starts to define it’s borders this week, with seven new #1 issues. It’s not a summer crossover, it’s the new Marvel Universe on Battleworld. Here’s the featured new comic releases coming out Wednesday, May 20th, 2015. Secret Wars First up is a Secret Wars book that’s set apart from the rest, Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars #1. Cullen Bunn retells the original Secret Wars storyline as if Deadpool had been there the whole time. There’s even a really cool Contest of the Champions backup story with the same schtick. (This really is the type of fiasco that Deadpool’s character was created for.)

Secret Wars and Convergence continue this week at CNJComics! Here’s the featured new comic releases coming out Wednesday, May 13th 2015. Secret Wars We sold a lot of Secret Wars #1’s last week, and it turned out to be a really good book too. A chaotic end of the world story with a very creepy ending that made you empathize with Reed Richards. Issue #2 is this week and we get our first real peak at our new Marvel for the next few months, Battleworld. The new Marvel Universe will be composed of bits and pieces of different timelines. (sound familiar?) The only difference is DC gave us a good idea of what was going on and Marvel has us flying by the seat of our pants. If you didn’t get a Battleboard map last week be sure to ask for one this week. They were so cool we ordered more.

We’ve got a lot of catching up to do after our biggest free comic book day ever, so this week we’re going to make it quick and feature the week’s biggest release, Secret Wars #1! Secret Wars is not only Marvel’s biggest event this summer, it’s taking the place of the entire Marvel Universe. The core of it all will be this eight issue mini series starting this week. I’ve given it a read and it’s pretty impressive, with the Marvel Universe battling the Ultimate Universe as the two worlds collide and seal their final fates. Hickman has been building towards this story since the beginning of the all new Marvel Now Universe, and the big payoff is here. You can also just pop into the book and enjoy it for what it is. 

We’re going to make it brief this week, as we’re working diligently to make this weekend’s Free Comic Book Day plans a reality.  Here are the featured new comic releases coming out Wednesday, April 29th, 2015. Convergence Welcome to DC Convergence Week Four! This week is set in the pre-Crisis DC Universe on any Earth other than Earth One. (If that’s confusing already, just grab a few titles that look interesting.) Here’s what some of the writer’s and artist have to say about week four: Action Comics #1: The classic Golden Age heroes from Earth Two against the creeps from Superman Red Son.

It’s week three for DC Convergence, we’ve got some Avengers Magazines to give away, a chance to win VIP status at Free Comic Book Day and some excellent new trailers to share with you. Convergence This week DC Convergence brings us ten more titles, this time set in the DC Universe pre Crisis on Infinite Earths (1985). Centered on Earth One, these titles are all set in the time period when I first started collecting comic books, so the nostalgia factor is high. Adventures of Superman #1: Superman, Supergirl and her headband by the guy who wrote Crisis himself, Marv Wolfman. Batman and the Outsiders #1: One of the greatest teams of the 1980’s. The Flash #1: Classic Flash Barry Allen before his death in Crisis. Green Lantern Corps #1: The big three of Hal, John and Guy.
