It’s time to release the information on this year’s Customers Appreciation Christmas Party and Charity Art Show. Our Christmas Party is our way of giving back to you, the people who have kept us in business for another year. The party is on Saturday December 19th from 8pm to 11pm and will have a Star Wars theme throughout this year. We have also turned this into a way to raise funds for the Cleveland Food Bank by hosting an art show with local artists doing custom Star Wars comic book covers. This show is done in conjunction with Pop the Comic Culture Club, and we really pull out all the stops to say thank you to everyone. THE ART SHOW: All day on the 19th we’ll have the custom Star Wars comic book covers displayed. These covers can be won through a basket raffle system where you can get tickets by donating food items or money. One food item, one ticket. One dollar, one ticket. All of this money goes to the Cleveland Food Bank. Winners will be drawn live...
CUSTOMER APPRECIATION PARTY First off, we’re here to remind you about our Christmas Party and art show on Saturday December 19th. The art show will last through the day and end with a party from 8pm to 11pm. The theme this year is Star Wars, and all the art will be winnable through a basket raffle system with all funds going to the Cleveland Food Bank. From now until Christmas, all funds from the $1.00 bins will go completely to the Cleveland Food Bank. You can come into the store and shop and know that with each book you buy you’re creating four full meals for people in need during the holiday season. We have also been told by Jim over at Comic Heaven that he will match this offer, so be sure to stop by his shop during the holiday season as well. At our shop, you can also start bringing food items in, and you can trade one item for a book out of the dollar bins! Thanks to Pop The Comic Culture Club for the donations to...
First off, we’ve like to thank everyone who made Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Local Comic Shop Day a success this past weekend. Scene even sent out a photographer to cover the Black Friday Event. Check that out here! (There’s a lot a familiar faces in there.) CHRISTMAS ART SHOW We’re also happy to announce that we’ll be doing our annual Christmas Art Show at our Christmas Customer Appreciation Party again this year. All proceeds from this show will go to the Cleveland Food Bank. Last year, with assistance from Pop The Comic Culture Club, we raised enough money to help the Food Bank create over 11,000 meals for those in need during the holidays. We also collected over a thousand food items. You can be a part of this! Artists, stop by the shop and pick up a blank Star Wars cover that looks like this: The theme this year is simply Star Wars, and you can take it in any direction that you want. (Holiday cover are fun though!) Please use only the front of the book for...
We’ve got a lot to cover this week so we’ve only got one featured book, Dark Knight III The Master Race #1! This eight issue mini series is written by Frank Miller and Brian Azzarello, with art by Andy Kubert. There’s even a mini insert Atom comic written by Miller and Azzarello with art by Miller and Klaus Janson. There’s a great deal of controversy around who wrote what, mostly because Miller is as crazy as Alan Moore. One thing is for certain though, we’ll all be tuned in to see what happens one way or another. We’re even going to let the 1:10 Jill Thompson Variants go for cover price.
This week’s email was a little late, as we’ve been getting ready for our Black Friday Sale, to be followed the next day by the first annual Local Comic Shop Day!
